Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) has been known as one of the world’s leading Jewish college fraternities since its founding over 100 years ago. The organization currently operates more than 190 chapters across seven countries, and connects a network of over 90,000 alumni seeking to develop future Jewish community leaders at the college level. Through acts of brotherhood and charity, as well as social awareness and advocacy for Jewish communities and Israel, AEPi remains a resource for Jewish men to improve and experience life together.
When AEPi began their relationship with Matchbook Creative, AEPi’s first objective was to update their web presence for a more modern, growing member and alumni base. With such a large organization, a centralized point to communicate with prospective members, current members and alumni, as well as administer organizational business with their far-ranging network of chapters, were a must. Their existing web presence was not able to serve an organization of their evolving size and scope, with unclear navigation, brand cohesion and messaging. The second objective aimed to revitalize AEPi’s official organization-wide publication, The Lion, in a more official capacity and online format .
When beginning the creative and collaborative process, Matchbook underwent a thorough evaluation of their web presence as it stood presently. We found that in light of the then-current limitations on their site, in order to accomplish their goals, they would need to completely change their site structure as well as design.
We aimed to consolidate over 100 pages of content into a more intuitive format for the multiple audiences AEPi needed to communicate with. This involved developing a website strategy that positioned content hierarchically and put an emphasis on site navigation and search resources. By updating multiple elements while retaining a strong visual identity, AEPi could enjoy a new site that would feel as if it had always been there, allowing added ease and creativity to their website.
Throughout a collaborative process linking web architecture, design and content facilitation, our team created an easily navigable site that guides visitors to their area of inquiry in a simple and elegant fashion. Their traditional colors of navy and gold ensure that the site retains the feel of the organization, and The Lion is now available online for members and alumni to view across the world, positioned as a robust online publication.
Alpha Epsilon Pi has long stood as a leading voice in the development of strong Jewish culture and leaders, and Matchbook Creative is proud to have facilitated their mission through a collaborative and rewarding process.
