Maris Takes the Plunge

The best feeling in the world is raising money for a great cause. Fundraising for something you believe in or support is not just beneficial to that organization, but for your well-being. There is nothing more exhilarating than helping those in need – unless it’s jumping into a lake of below-freezing water.

That’s exactly what Maris did: She took the Polar Plunge. “For the warm at heart,” the Polar Plunge asks participants to raise money in support of the Special Olympics. All proceeds go directly toward the games here at home; where more than 11,000 special-needs athletes from all across Indiana compete in the name of sportsmanship, and awareness.

The Special Olympics of Indiana is just one of the many organizations Maris helps throughout the year. An animal lover at heart, you can oftentimes find Maris volunteering at the Indianapolis Zoo, or more recently serving on a committee for the Morris Animal Foundation’s Canine Cancer Walk.

Our account executive donates a great deal of her time to the Junior League of Indianapolis – a nonprofit committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Avid about the community, Maris is also a promoter of health awareness through Ovar’coming Together: Indiana’s nonprofit resource and education organization for ovarian cancer. Through fundraisers, events, and speaking engagements, Maris is a contributing voice to an invaluable support system for women and families who have been affected by ovarian cancer.

There are so many rescues, nonprofits, and volunteer-based programs needing help. No matter your passion, there is a group associated with it that would benefit from your help. With so much to offer, how can you not give back? Jump in, and get to work!
